Va'eira Question 1

Yechiel Shaffer

When God is explaining the next steps to Moshe and Aharon he says the following:

שמות – וארא פרק ו

יג) וידבר יקוק אל־משה ואל־אהרן ויצום אל־בני ישראל ואל־פרעה מלך מצרים להוציא את־בני־ישראל מארץ מצרים

13. So the Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, and He commanded them concerning the children of Israel and concerning Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, to let the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.

Is not letting the Jews go a concern for the Pharaoh? Why does God tell Moshe and Aharon ‘ויצום אל־בני ישראל’? What do they need to be concerned about (See Meshech Chochmah ad. loc.)?

How do Jews let themselves go free?
